  1. Does laser lipolysis treat cellulite?

Laser lipolysis is intended to improve the body’s shape and may reduce cellulite to a certain degree

  2. Is it true that if you remove fat from one area with laser lipolysis it will come back?

No. Laser lipolysis results are intended to be permanent provided they are maintained with a healthy diet and exercise.

  3. I go the gym religiously but cannot seem to get rid of certain areas, no matter how hard I work out. Can lipo help?

Lipo is appropriate and perfect for these stubborn fat pockets. Allow yourself two to three weeks after the procedure before going back to working out.

  4. I struggle with going to the gym because I just do not see any results and I get caught in this vicious circle where I get depressed and eat even more. Is lipo for me?

Yes! Even though lipo is not a weight loss procedure it can give you a one to two year head start at the gym. After lipo, you will be more motivated since you will now see immediate results at the gym and it will help you break that vicious circle that you are stuck in.

  5. Is “lunchtime lipo” painful?

No. The procedure is done under local anesthesia. After the procedure, it feels like you went to the gym and worked for a couple of more hours more than you normally do. If you never worked out it will feel like the first time you got on a treadmill for a couple of hours. Bottom line you will feel sore but should be able to resume your daily routine shortly.

  6. Do I have to stay in the hospital?

No the procedure is performed at OKCLipo's outpatient surgical facility under local anesthesia. You won't have to stay in a hospital since the recovery from the local lipo works best within the comforts of your own home.

  7. What are the main advantages of local lipo or lunchtime lipo?

-It offers the smoothest, best body contouring results.
-It entails only a short recovery time, patients are back to regular activities quickly.
    -It's safer than traditional liposuction.
-It tightens the skin around the treatment area.
    -Performed under local anesthesia only.
    -The results are permanent.

  8. Who would best represent an Ideal Candidate for local lipo or lunchtime lipo?

Like all liposuction, local lipo/lunchtime lipo is not a method of weight control. Rather, it is a procedure designed to remove stubborn pockets of fat that will not respond to diet and exercise. Most candidates for laser lipolysis are within 25lbs of their ideal weight and have responded poorly to diet and exercise.

  9. Which area is lunchtime/local lipo useful for?

Local lipo/lunchtime lipo has been designed to treat localized pockets of fat in the following areas:
    -Waist or (love handles)
    -Chin
    -Inner and outer thighs
    -Hips
    -Abdomen
    -Arms
    -Knees
    -Male chest reduction

  10. What is the recovery time for local lipo or lunchtime lipo?

One main advantage of liposuction preformed at OKCLipo is the fact that it is performed under local anesthesia, so there is no need to recover from general sedation. Patients who have the procedure on a Friday are back to work and most activities by Monday. Most of our patients report little to no discomfort whatsoever. Expect to see initial results within 2 weeks and final results with optimal skin tightening effect within 6 months.

  11. Is there anything that I can do to expedite my recovery?

Following the preoperative and postoperative instructions provided to you will assist with a quick recovery. We also recommend use of Arnica Montana, an herbal supplement that will help with your bruising and swelling. It can be purchased online, at many health food stores, or at our clinic.

  12. How does Power-Assisted Lipoplasty work?

Power-assisted lipoplasty (PAL) is the favorite technology used in our Clinic to remove fat and assists in contouring of the body. Power-assisted liposuction is a variation of the basic liposuction procedure where a thin 6 to 8 inch probe is inserted through tiny incisions to dilated fat cells. The difference between regular lipoplasty devices and power-assisted wands is that the tip of the suction tube has the capability of vibrating. This vibrating cannula whirs at a high enough speed to create a particularly high frequency vibration. This high speed vibration disturbs and emulsifies the fat cells making them easier to remove from the body. This modality causes fewer traumas and bruising to the surrounding tissues.
